This Independent Study Project involved my skills and creative talents as a web developer. I redeveloped, modified, and maintained two websites. The websites are: kirstenmichel.com - Bioneer Productions hoplandwomensfestival.com - Hopland Women's Festival. As a part of this work, I provided assistance to the Co-Producer of the Hopland Women's Festival.

I continued the ongoing creation and maintainence of the above mentioned websites.

This work involved using my computer to:

~ Do work on my website, kirstenmichel.com. This work involved redeveloping and redesigning the site in order to reflect my current work/projects/creations/homework/etc.

~ Do work on the Hopland Women's Festival site. This work included working as Assistant Producer and Web Developer for Co-Producer Jody Cole. I updated and maintained the site to reflect this year's events.

I followed through my intention to utilize and enhance my skills and creative abilities as a Web Developer / Videographer / Photographer / Creative Consultant and Graphic Designer for my own website and for the Hopland Women's Festival. I learned more about the process of web development, especially in the area of creating and uploading video clips online. I also learned how to create a Paypal account - it is currently being used on the Hopland website. The producers of the Hopland Women's Festival chose one of my photos to put on the new Hopland "Songs from the Land" CD.

The main part of my work - web development - was the most tedious work I had to do. It involved a lot of recoding and editing prexisting code. The most complicated thing for me was to set up the Paypal account. It seems to be working well, though. I don't really like Paypal because of it's corporate and capitalist qualities, but it is a convenient way to have people buy tickets. I enjoyed editing and producing videos and then learning how to upload them online. I would like to polish my skills in this area and make more videos. I hope that I can learn how to make better quality videos. I was honored to have the Hopland Women's Festival producers choose one of my photos for their CD. I look forward to it's release. I also look forward to the Festival itself.

I am satisfied with my own current website. I'm a little bit frustrated by the fact that it shows up differently on different computer systems and haven't figured out a way to resolve this issue yet. I might redesign it in a year or two, but I feel comfortable using it both professionally and for personal reasons. I have received numerous compliments on this site.
